Receptionist Downtown Atlanta

The Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc. (“Legal Aid”) seeks a full-time Receptionist to work in its Downtown Atlanta Office. The office is the headquarters of Legal Aid. Our nonprofit represents low-income persons in a wide variety of civil law matters including family, housing, consumer, public benefits, education, and health law.

Responsibilities: The Receptionist answers the phone; greets visitors to the office; refers callers and visitors to appropriate ALAS offices/units and other agencies and resources; performs word processing, scanning and mailing tasks; and performs other tasks as needed.

Qualifications: One years of office experience, experience working with the public, and fluency in English. Candidates must be able to operate a multi-line telephone system; and proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills including spelling, grammar and style; be organized, attentive to details and able to multi-task; be a team player and enjoy working with the public. Proficiency in another language is highly valued. The volume of incoming calls is very heavy, and callers are often very emotional. Accordingly, the Receptionist must be patient, compassionate, even-tempered, and have good people and problem–solving skills.

Salary and Benefits: The salary is $32,400+ depending on experience. The program provides generous fringe benefits, including paid holidays, paid time off including parental leave; health, life, and long and short-term disability insurance; partial payment for dependent health insurance; a salary reduction option for a flexible spending account; educational loan reimbursement up to $600 per month (after a $65 per month deductible and set off of other loan reimbursement amounts); voluntary tax-sheltered annuity with 3% match. Legal Aid offers a hybrid work schedule that allows staff to work 2 days remotely subject to management approval and a probationary employment period.
