The Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc. seeks a part-time, administrative assistant to work in its Disability Integration Project, assisting our attorneys and case handler paralegals as they assist our low-income clients in resolving their legal and resource problems. The work unit, which is housed in the DeKalb office of Legal Aid in downtown Decatur, includes four attorneys, two case handler paralegals as well as several temporary, part-time law school students.
Job responsibilities include:
- Word processing;
- Conducting eligibility intake of new clients utilizing our client case management system;
- Requesting medical, educational, and forensic records;
- Calling applicants and clients to gather and provide information;
- Scanning and photocopying;
- Handling other clerical work as needed.
Qualifications: We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented person who is proficient at data-entry, word processing, and multitasking. Candidates must possess excellent communication and listening skills, reliability, ability to work as a team member, to work alone, to seek and accept supervision, and an appreciation of diversity. Knowledge of another language is a plus, but not required.
Terms: This is a part-time temporary position for 20 hours per week which pays $13.50 per hour. This position offers no benefits.
