The Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc. seeks a temporary part-time Receptionist to work in its Downtown Atlanta Office. The office is the main branch of Atlanta Legal Aid. Our non-profit represents low-income persons in a wide variety of civil legal problems, including domestic relations, housing, consumer, public benefits, education and health law issues. This is a 15-20 hours per week position requiring a daily schedule Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The part-time receptionist refers callers to appropriate ALAS offices/units, agencies and resources. The volume of calls is very heavy, and callers are often very worried or upset about their situations. Accordingly, the part-time receptionist must have patience, compassion, strong nerves, lively intelligence and good problem–solving skills.
Skills and experiences required:
- 1 year of office experience
- Experience working with the public
- Fluency in English
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to operate a multiline telephone
- Excellent oral and professional written communication skills including spelling, grammar, and style
Terms: This is a temporary part-time position for 15-20 hours per week that pays $15 per hour. This position offers no benefits.
