Contract Attorney Tenant Landlord Assistance Coalition (TLAC)

The Atlanta Legal Aid Society (“Legal Aid”) seeks a full-time Contract Attorney to work remotely with its Tenant Landlord Assistance Coalition (“TLAC”) project. The project is a grant-funded project based in the DeKalb County office of Legal Aid. The project is comprised of a director, 4 attorneys, and 3 support staff.

Responsibilities: The Contract Attorney represents tenants approved to receive rental assistance from TLAC (DeKalb County’s rental assistance program) in negotiating settlements with landlords and landlords’ attorneys. The attorney may also provide limited representation to tenants in virtual court appearances.

Qualifications: A Georgia bar license or provisional bar license. Candidates must possess: a strong work ethic; excellent mathematical, analytical, writing, and advocacy skills; good communication and listening skills; the ability to work in a team and alone; adaptability; the ability to balance compassion and pragmatism; and an appreciation of diversity. Demonstrated commitment to public service, prior work with low-income people, and familiarity with landlord/tenant law are preferred.

Hourly Rate: This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) contract position that pays $27.50+ per hour depending on experience. The position offers no benefits. The position is expected to continue through March of 2023.
