Atlanta Legal Aid Society provides free civil legal help to individuals who cannot afford a private attorney.

To qualify for our services, you must meet certain low-income guidelines. Eligibility exceptions may apply to seniors and certain other qualified applicants.  We primarily serve the five county metro Atlanta area – Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett. Some limited services are available statewide and are noted below where applicable.  You may reach us in person, by telephone, or online.  Please see below for details.

TELEPHONE APPLICATION FOR LEGAL SERVICES

To request legal help over the telephone, call the office in the county in which you reside.  Our offices and telephone application services are closed on the holidays listed below.

IN PERSON APPLICATION

If you need to apply for legal help in person, visit the office in your county Monday through Friday during our open hours (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM). Walk-in service is very limited; you may not see a lawyer right away. We will quickly help people with emergencies, but if your problem is not urgent, we will call you back.
