Accounting Associate (Part-Time or Full-Time)

Atlanta Legal Aid Society (“Legal Aid”) seeks an Accounting Associate to work at its headquarters in downtown Atlanta. Our non-profit law firm represents low-income people in a variety of civil legal matters.

Responsibilities: The Accounting Associate works closely with the Director of Finance performing a variety of duties including accounts payable, recording cash receipts, and making bank deposits; preparing and processing payroll; timekeeping; maintaining and filing accounting records; and other tasks as needed. 

Qualifications: Applicants must have at least 3 years of experience with general accounting functions and payroll processing. Experience with non-profit accounting and/or Paylocity payroll service is highly preferred. Communication and listening skills, experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, the ability to work in a team and alone, adaptability, and appreciation of diversity are required. Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Salary and Benefits: The hours for this position are 20 – 37.5 hours a week. The salary for 3 years of experience is $50,000 depending on the number of hours worked per week. (The salary offered may increase or decrease depending on the actual, relevant experience of the selected candidate.) Salaries increase annually based on a salary scale. The program provides generous fringe benefits including 18 paid holidays (in 2024) , 6 weeks paid time off, 6 weeks parental leave; health, life, and long and short-term disability insurance; partial payment for dependent health insurance; a salary reduction option for a flexible spending account; educational loan reimbursement up to $600 per month (after a set off of other loan reimbursement amounts); and a voluntary tax-sheltered annuity with 3% match. Legal Aid also offers a hybrid work schedule that allows staff to work up to 2 days remotely subject to management approval and a probationary employment period. This position may be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the U.S. Department of Education.
