In the U.S, people are not guaranteed lawyers in civil cases – cases that involve issues like domestic violence, the potential loss of homes and children, and adoption. Atlanta Legal Aid provides free legal help to people living in poverty so they don’t have to face a complicated legal system alone.
Your Support Provides Essential Legal Help to Families in Crisis.
Atlanta Legal Aid depends on your generosity to connect skilled attorneys with people who cannot afford legal representation. Every donation you make delivers critical support to families facing impossible situations.
The Blocker family’s story demonstrates this impact. When the pandemic struck, both Mr. and Mrs. Blocker lost their jobs and quickly fell behind on rent. Their landlord refused to negotiate and initiated eviction proceedings against the family.
That’s when Atlanta Legal Aid attorney Andrea Coleman stepped in. She helped Mr. Blocker secure rental assistance to cover his outstanding balance.
“Ms. Coleman kept me informed with every step of the process. I felt like she was my angel in disguise,” said Mr. Blocker.
Thanks to donor support like yours, Mr. Blocker reached an agreement with his landlord. The eviction was dismissed, and his family kept their home.
Your contribution to Atlanta Legal Aid prevents homelessness and provides the families the legal advocacy they need during their most vulnerable moments. Your gift could determine whether a family has safe shelter or faces life on the streets.
