Support Atlanta Legal Aid Through Your IRA
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows individuals age 70½ or older to make charitable contributions directly from an eligible Individual Retirement Account (IRA).
For 2026, eligible donors may contribute up to $111,000 annually through QCDs. These gifts can generally be excluded from taxable income and may also satisfy all or part of a required minimum distribution (RMD), if applicable.
By making a gift through your IRA, you can help Atlanta Legal Aid provide free civil legal assistance to individuals and families in need.

Potential Tax Benefits of a QCD
Qualified Charitable Distributions offer eligible donors an opportunity to support Atlanta Legal Aid while potentially reducing their taxable income.
Unlike a traditional IRA withdrawal followed by a cash donation, a qualifying QCD is generally excluded from federal taxable income. This may provide a tax advantage even for individuals who take the standard deduction.
A QCD may also satisfy all or part of your annual required minimum distribution (RMD), if applicable.
The actual tax benefits depend on your individual circumstances. We encourage you to consult your financial or tax advisor before arranging a Qualified Charitable Distribution.
